Since 1994, the parents of developmentally challenged individuals in Moose Factory have actively lobbied and advocated for the provision of programs and services within the community for their family members. This group of parents became known as the Special Needs Advocacy Group (SNAG). While services could be accessed out of town, this meant institutions, complete separation from family and community for their family members. This advocacy group lobbied and approached various groups and agencies including the leadership of MCFN to voice their concerns and have evolved into a full-time, Billy Bayou Day Program.
